Blue Flowers

I was thinking for a while to create some flower designs on my nails, partly because it’s spring and all you can see everywhere is blossoming trees and flowers 🙂 But partly because although they look really pretty on the nails, they are fairly easy to create.

The flowers I chose for this manicure are not the easiest (I will show you some easier ones soon 😉 ) but with a bit of patience, they canbe easily re-created. And the beauty about flowers is that they don’t need to look perfect as every real flower out there is different too!

Looking back at this mani now, I probably should have chosen some pink colours for the flowers and they would look a bit more realistic (like the cherry blossom ones 😊)but I wanted to have something that would have a bigger contrast with the white background.

All you need for this design is a striping brush, a dotting tool and some gel colours 😉

  1. As always, apply a thin layer of base coat toall your nails and cure it under your lamp. It’s important to apply it in thin layers to prevent lifting later on 😉
  2. Then apply the first layer of colours: white to thethumb and ring finger, nude to the middle finger nail, the rest of the nailswill be blue (or the colour you have picked for your flowers) and cure it
  3. Apply a second layer to all your nails and cureit under your lamp. (if you haven’t reached a good enough coverage, you maywant to apply a third layer too)
  4. So now we can start drawing some flowers to the white nail 😊 using a dotting tool, add some dots where the petals will be but before curing add some white to the base of the petals using a striping brush. With the brush, try to ‘blend’ the colours together to reach a natural outcome. When you’re happy with the way it looks, cure it under your lamp.
I’ve added 3 flowers to my nail which could be quite time consuming so make sure that cure the petals from time to time to prevent spreading.
  5. When the base is done for the flowers, using a striping brush (or toothpick like I did 🙂), add some black to the middle to make the flowers complete. Just a few lines would make it 😉
  6. Once all the flowers are cured, apply a thin layer of top coat to all your nails and cure it
